I like giving this book to students new to the cello. It introduces concepts in a timely and organized manner, with a combination of tunes everyone knows and some new ones that the student will have to figure out without the help of knowing the melody. My two complaints are...

1.) the only concept which it is slow to introduce is bowings and slurs. I find that suplimental material is needed for this earlier than when the book introduces it. 2.)The illustrations are not good, the drawings of people look scary and they aren't clear enough to give the student an idea of what a cellist is supposed to look like with the instrument.
