    Difficulty Level:
  • May 15, 2008 Sweet Suite

Carlo Domeniconi has provided in music a fascinating panorama of the rural Turkish way of life. It contains an aura of mystery that persists throughout the work which can be expressed only by use of a minor key. Even after many playings, the listener's attention is not diminished; the...

magic continues. The edition, distributed by Mel Bay Publications, is an excellent product. The music is presented on two staffs; the upper contains the actual notes as written by the composer. The lower staff shows the notes as played on the guitar which must undergo significant retuning to the key of C#m. The booklet contains 20 pages of clearly printed, easy to read music followed by a page of instructions on guitar tuning and some alternate fingerings for difficult passages. The instructions could be expanded and clarified for those not familiar with the composer's technique.
