Canzonas And Intradas (1618) - Score and parts composed by Widmann. For SSATB recorders. Recorder Quintets. German Instrumental Music. Score and Parts. Published by London Pro Musica (MM.LPMGM09).

Erasmus Widmann was born in 1572 at Schwabisch Hall, and died not far from there in Rothenburg in 1634. In fact he seems to have spent most of his life in that part of Germany, which is between Stuttgart and Niirnberg, apart from a spell at Graz in Austria. He published several collections of secular pieces; some dances from his Musicalischer Tugendtspiegel of 1613 can be found in volume ten of the present series. Widmanns 1618 print is a substantial collection, containing his most ambitious instrumental music. Altogether the partbooks contain fourteen canzonas, twelve intradas, and two each ofgalliards, balletti and courantes; all of this music is in five parts except for the two courantes, which are in four.
