    Difficulty Level:
  • October 16, 2008 Violin and Guitar Together at Last

This edition has both piano and guitar accompaniments. I was surprised to find the guitar and violin parts printed opposite each other on the same page. Perhaps the publisher might consider including two copies of that page, so that both violinst and guitarist could see each other's part. I...

ended up photocopying the page instead of cutting it in half.

    Difficulty Level:
  • June 24, 2007 Sweet Cantabile

Paganini usually scares me. I have struggled through Paganini before and have usually found it technically very hard and musically average. Showpieces generally, and mostly to show off violinistic fireworks. This also is a showpiece, but although it has a few technical challenges, it is a very sweet piece of...

music and the work in dealing with the technical challenges are well rewarded. The main skill is to play sweetly and well a relatively simple (for Paganini!) and beautiful tune. I would recommend it to any reasonably competent violinist.
