One of our top-selling sheet arrangementa of this famous piece. Canon in D is the most famous piece of music by Johann Pachelbel, written in or around 1680 as a piece of chamber music for three violins and basso continuo. Willard A. Palmer's faithful setting is for the late intermediate pianist. Tasteful use of arpeggios, rolled chords, and dynamics brings out a rich, sonorous sound that evokes the original string arrangement. Perfect for weddings, recitals, or any other special occasion.

This title has selections that range in difficulty from SMP Level 4-5.

  • May 01, 2011 nice sound, but not a true transcription

It's a lovely offering, but it's not a faithful transcription of the original. It is nice for background music, and nice sightreading practice for early-advanced students. It could inspire a student to seek out a more faithful transcription.

This is "ok" for an early intermediate student seeking a challenge, but for anybody else, steer clear. This is more of a theme and variation of the basic theme of "Canon In D." If you are a more advanced pianist looking for a nice arrangement of this piece, check out...

At the beginning of the song it is very easy but it builds in complexity. Has a wonderful sound and a spectacular ending.
