Bridge over Troubled Water

Choral (SSA)
Composed by Paul Simon. Arranged by Kirby Shaw. Shawnee Press. Graduation, Popular Standards/Show Tunes. 12 pages. Shawnee Press #B0601. Published by Shawnee Press (HL.35002414).

Item Number: HL.35002414

Kirby Shaw's phenomenal arrangement of this Simon & Garfunkel hit ballad is contemporary choral writing at its finest! The light, harmonic a cappella opening is contrasted with this soaring fresh gospel-style setting that holds opportunities for improvisation from multiple soloists. This is an excellent choice for a pops concert or graduation. Available separately: SATB, SAB, TTBB, SSA, Show Band Orchestration, StudioTrax A/P CD.

  • February 04, 2012 Needs a good soloist and good pianist

This is a very solid arrangement, but there are a lot of LH octaves and leaps in the piano part. This will need an excellent accompanist, probably not a student, and also a page-turner for them. It will also need at least one confident soloist, who is capable of...

projecting over the whole choir - at times it can become a bit unbalanced.

  • April 11, 2007 Great Audience Appeal!

The arrangement of this song was quite difficult for our small choir of 12, but everyone enjoyed the challenge. Finally we loved getting it together, and presenting the song whole-heartedly. It was truly appreciated by the audience.
