This is unnecessarily confusing from the outset and has 2 songs total.Where there are sections to play, the chords are written above and the manuscript left blank .The notation seems arbitrary and aganl more than a little confusing. To be frank I wont bother using this book and have...

opted for Brazilian jazz guitar which is by contrast full of songs .

this book is too didactic with almost no songs. it has bossa nova broken down into so many parts that , like humpty dumpty, they can't put them together again by the student. these techniques and features of bossa nova could better be taught thru easier versions of the songs...

. no student is going to sit thru 6 weeks of lessons and still not a have even one song to show for it. buy this book and watch your student list get smaller.

This is very good material and you will learn a lot of Bossa Nova basics. The CD is excellent, it follows the writnen music flawlessly and is played at a tempo in which you can hear exactly how it should sound. Why only 4.7 stars? Mike Christiansen could have put...

together an excellent outstanding book with the inclusion of 2 or 3 songs teaching the use of the Bossa Nova/Samba patterns with sheet music and lead sheets. Maybe even a solo with lyrics (in portuguese, like "Deusa do Amor) and guitar accompaniment. There is one solo, "Bonita" at the end of the book which is exquisite. The author understands a lot about teaching and the exercises progress well. The book is well worth the money and I would buy it again which is not the case with other Latin stuff I bought. All and all I am satisfied with the book and I recommend it. It is well worth the $17.95.

I've studied classical guitar on and off over the years and have become dependent on written music. I love Bossa Nova and this book fills a place that I found difficult to fill with lessons. For me, this is essential and what I've been looking for for a...

    long time. I highly recommend.
