By Mitch Woods. DVD. DVD. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.320515).

ISBN 1423403312. 5.25x7.5 inches.

With his warm and easy-going manner, Mitch will walk you through the various boogie woogie patterns from the most basic to the more advanced. There is precious little information available for the serious piano student of this exciting genre, but this authoritative instructional DVD fills in the gaps. Showing both left- and right-hand fingerings in patient detail, Mitch not only lays the rocking foundation for players from beginning to advanced, but he also opens the door for future exploration. This DVD contains a supplementary booklet with the prime musical examples notated.

Mitch Woods is great, no doubt about it. However, he seems a little reluctant to let his 'trade secrets' out. He could have been more helpful to beginners while still not giving up too much to fellow professionals.

This guy is a great piano player and charismatic in his presentation, that's the good. The bad is that he wastes time chatting away when what one is waiting for is the disclosure of his bag of tricks on the piano! The ugly is that he keeps repeating that...

he is not going to give away all of his tricks, yet that's what I thought I happily paid for! Still, I would recommend this product to the intermediate player with knowledge of note reading and to hear his fine style of playing!
