Bolero

Concert Band (Score & Parts) - Grade 4
Composed by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937). Arranged by Jay Bocook. MusicWorks Grade 4. Score and parts. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.4002123).

Item Number: HL.4002123

This well-known Ravel classic is a study in orchestration as it gradually builds intensity from the quiet opening to the powerful and explosive finish. Jay does a masterful job of adapting this work for concert band using solos for clarinet, flute and trumpet and skillful use of the entire ensemble. (4:25).

  • March 25, 2008 Excellent version of a beloved classic

Very true to the original this version proved challenging to the players without being frustratingly difficult (was played by community concert band). Gives all instruments a chance to take a piece of the spotlight. Only piece we played that drew cheers from the audience. Highly recommended!
