The Bird March
Beginner Trumpet Solo

The Bird March is one of three solos written for very early beginners. The solos have a range below C in the staff, use no rhythmic values smaller than quarter-notes, and are relatively short for a trumpet solo.

The Bird March is in the key of C and is typically the first solo I assign to my beginners.

What I enjoy most about these solos is that the students can perform them very early in their progress. It is not uncommon for my students to play for their school assemblies, church events or family functions, with only a few months of experience under their belts.
