  • February 25, 2013 crystal clear score of a 20th century Classic

I liked this product because it is produced with great care and attention to detail. Anyone with classical training will be able to tackle this wonderful piece of music. The composer seems to be very finnicky in the scoring so that there is a marking on almost every note. This...

makes the score look daunting at first. However the music is not so difficult and with careful study you can come to grips with it. String players need to be very comfortable with harmonics. The score is beautifully clear but this leads to a lot more page turns for the pianist. To my ears it sounds like Messiaen but lighter and with the Japanese cultural influence in there too. One movement only. Which takes 15 -20 minutes. Very satisfying and spiritual to play.
