  • April 27, 2011 Love this series

I use this series for beginners because it is so easy to read and understand. The pages are not cluttered with a lot of unnecessary pictures and things, and the fingering is minimal. The pace is steady and simple, not too fast. I use supplementary materials to go along with...

it and my students have done very well.

  • March 01, 2007 Excellent Beginning Piano Course (see Books 1 - 5)

The Belwin Piano method (Books 1 - 5) is little used or known. I like the simple teaching method. It is clear and easy for new students of all ages to understand. The use of finger numbers is minimal, giving just enough to familiarize students with the finger numbers, but not...

enough to create a "play by number" learning flaw, which so many other books cause. I suggest this course for students who do not yet have the ability or time to learn at the accelerated rate of more difficult couses; or for beginning students. As a student shows more rapid progress, I may move them to Thompson which moves much more quickly, and requires more concentrated time in study.
