Behold the Wounds in Jesus' Hands

By David R. Naylor

Customer Rating:   4 Reviews Write a Review

Behold the Wounds in Jesus' Hands composed by David R. Naylor. For SATB choir, Organ. Sacred. Medium. Octavo. Duration 4:00. Published by Sonos (JK.00595).

This anthem is written for organ accompaniment and the soprano division is optional. This is a beautiful number for Easter or any sacrament meeting program. The first verse is for men and is in unison. The second verse is for the women of the choir and is also in unison. The third verse is written for 4-part a cappella but the parts are written in the accompaniment if they are needed. The text of this piece describes the many ways that Christ has blessed our lives through his infinite sacrifice for us. Organ accompanied is prefered but the piano may be adapted for this piece.

    Difficulty Level:
  • December 26, 2013 Simple and Beautiful

I say simple because the vocal and piano parts are simple and repetitive and with that, the piece is so very beautiful. The melody draws in the listener. The words are inspired and my choir and congregation were so moved by this piece.

  • April 13, 2012 Great Easter Piece

Beautifully written! The song is inspired of God and you can feel the Spirit each time it's sung. Moved many to tears, including myself. Wonderful harmonies with a short a cappella piece in the middle. Not hard to learn, but very moving and very powerful. Great piece for Easter...

or any time you want to teach about the Atonement of Jesus Christ through song. Five Stars.

I absolutely love this piece! If you want a great recording listen to the BYU Singers on their album Songs of the Soul. The words to the song are so touching and the music and harmonies are beautiful. One of my favorite pieces to conduct with my choir.

  • March 28, 2008 Beautiful!

This is a very inspiration and appropriate piece to reflect on the Savior's suffering but also the hope of his atonement and resurrection. The arrangement is beautiful and simple enough for most singers who can hear basic harmonies.
