Concert Band - Grade 4
Composed by Brant Karrick. Concert Band; SmartMusic. Alfred Concert Band. Form: Fugue. Conductor Score & Parts. 308 pages. Published by Alfred Music (AP.22279).

Item Number: AP.22279

This fun and whimsical work creates a piece that will provide musical and technical challenges for performers yet can be immediately enjoyed by the listener, musician, and non-musician alike. Starting with a four-part fugue scored for woodwinds, the work then moves to a folk song-like lyrical theme, then eventually back to the initial fugue. "Bayou Breakdown" is a perfect showpiece for your band! (4:25) This title is available in SmartMusic.

I played this song at my district band festival and it was very cool and fun to play. I recommend this to any band director ready for a challenge.

  • February 20, 2006 A Cool Piece

I am a freshman 1st oboe, and it's such a cool song. It's one of those songs where you'd expect there to be a part for the spoons (and it wouldn't be optional), but it's so cool. The oboe solos are nice, and it's...

a bit diffucult on fingerings at times, but overall, it's a neat piece.

It Rocks! it gets stuck in my head all the time and i walk around humming it... well it rocks! I play frenh horn and we dont normally have any good parts but in this piece we have alot of really awesome parts. Thank you so much! • January 09, 2006 Interesting Piece

The two main melodies of the piece are not that difficult and are fun to play. I am currently a freshman in high school and our band has only recently started this piece. I play bass clarinet and find that this piece allows us to have several instances where we...

are the melody. This is great because several of the interesting pieces typically chosen by our teacher involve us playing easy parts, it was nice to find something of a challenge that involved us playing a decent melody.

  • July 12, 2005 Best Song Ever

I play the clarinet and I have played many songs. This song is definitely the most fun with one of the prettiest lyrical sections I have ever heard. Playing it (Directed by Mr. Cumberland of Pascagoula) with the 2005 Mississippi All State Lions Band is an experience I will never...

forget. This is my new favorite song.
