The Wilhousky setting of this 19th century hymn is possibly the most heartfelt musical pronouncement of American patriotism. Divisi sections in all parts are accessible and still richly expressive with harmonic colors and sweeping dynamic contrasts. Emotional and highly effective, it is a truly magnificent setting that may be performed with band or orchestral accompaniment. It's also the one chosen most often by U.S. military ensembles.

  • July 10, 2008 Just what I was looking for

This is the piece I have loved for years. We're not the MoTab Choir, but we look forward to making this part of our repertoire.

  • June 18, 2008 Amazing Piece!

This arrangement is first rate and is very moving. It's been performed by the Armed Forces and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to stunning effect and I highly recommend this piece to anyone.

  • August 10, 2007 Wonderful closing number

This piece is performed as the grand finale number for the Chautauqua Spring All-County Festival each year. This piece sounds really powerful in the Amphitheater, especially the last chord. I played the band accompaniment that goes with this a couple of times. When the band plays with the chorus...

, it sounds amazing! The acapella four-part men's section for verse three is just really beautiful. This is a wonderful piece to close a concert with.

  • August 09, 2007 Our small choir did it!

This arrangement was just the icing on the cake to make our program complete. We are small in number but big in talent and this arrangement of the Battle Hymn of the Republic would be suitable for choirs of all sizes I think.
