Composed by Xavier Montsalvatge. 20th Century. Sheet Music Single. With "". 11 pages. Published by PartiturasDigitales.net (S0.1927).

Ballet music for two pianos. At the end of the 1940s, Montsalvatge recalled that he’d composed several ballets and that they’d been performed by dancers such as the Alexandre Sisters, Paul Goubé, Joan Magrinà and Trini Borrul. One of the dancers with whom he collaborated was Joan Tena who asked him to write music for a choreography he wanted to do that featured or was reminiscent of the style and rhythms of American Blacks. This work dates from the year 1956 and, as Montsalvatge once said, it isn’t meant to be a truly serious work. In fact, when it was first performed, the audience liked it a lot and Montsalvatge later lost control of the situation—and the music itself-- and couldn’t effectively change anything. Years later, Montsalvatge met Joan Tena again and reminded him of that time when they had worked together. Just after that, Tena sent the composer a copy of the score for two pianos. The work was, in fact, originally scored for two pianos. Lluís Trullén, 1999.
