Absolutely brilliant! A great selection of popular music with CD accompaniment that makes individual practice a real pleasure. For someone like myself with a brass background coming back to playing after many years, it has made it much easier to "get my lip in" again very easy. I can recommend...

this for anyone with some early playing experience as it is not too difficult.

Beautiful music. Easy listening. It is a play-a-long and not a true accompaniment disk. If using as a background disk for a solo instrument, sometimes the xylophone overshadows the solo instrument. Long sustained phrases would be difficult for a beginner. And for others can be boring.

This book has a fairly good mix of easy-to-perform tunes. Good way for relatively new players to get of the solo-only or band-only rut. Note that to get the most from this, you need a sound system that can balance left/right to get rid of...

    the trumpet cues.

  • January 05, 2008 Well worth the money.....

I purchased this for "I Dreamed A Dream", and recorded my trumpet playing over the accompaniement. With a little balancing of the sound levels, a little reverb for depth, the result was gorgeous. You must have a CD player or computer software player that will play only the correct channel...

[right or left], the channel without the demo 'horn' playing in the background. I really was glad I found this book/CD play-along!

  • December 20, 2007 Notes were not for brass all the time

A number of the pieces had note ranges that were really too low for the trumpet part but the background was good with some variety so that playing a number from the book did not get redundant. The audience reaction was still favorable for the their favorite songs. To make...

the ranger higher would have been more suitable for trumpet and with at least a few simple flourishes or measures with improvisations typical for trumpet.
