  • January 09, 2009 only for the biggest Badu fans

I'm a Badu fan, but this book isn't for everyone. Of course, several of the tracks on Baduizm consist mostly of percussion and bass, and the melody is carried by Erykah's vocals, so they don't transcribe well to piano. Thats to be expected.(How do you...

play a rimshot on the piano?) However, some of the tracks sound pretty good played on piano (i.e. Drama), as do most of the intros. Even so, this sheet music doesn't do the album justice. I think this book is great to use as an outline, and then jazz the piece up a bit yourself, if you're so inclined, or if you're playing as part of a band. And if you're just a beginning/intermediate piano student that loves Badu, why not learn by playing something you like? I only recommend it for the biggest Badu fans though.

i LOVE erykah badu's music sooo much, but these pieces are horribly arranged. You cant completely blame whoever transposed the music, b/c really none of the songs on this album contain much piano in the first place (which makes me wonder why they even published it). however it...

wouldve been nice if they put in time to make some smooth new and different piano-tailored arrangements for these songs, which they didnt - but anyways, even if u love her as much as i do, you will cringe when u play these pieces and they dont sound the slightest bit good... peace
