Your first-year string students will shine as Baroque meets country in this fun, Grade 1 selection. Based on quotes from Bach's famous Menuet in G and his Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, this is the perfect piece to highlight every section of the string orchestra. Students will love practicing fiddle licks that will help strengthen their left hand technique. Carefully written with the young performer in mind, this delightfully simple piece has a difficult virtuoso sound but is playable by even the most inexperienced groups. Correlated with String Explorer, Book 1, Unit 10.

Bach Country Fiddles was a piece of music that my primary orchestra (8-10 year olds) liked and were able to learn in just a couple days. It made a great "bis". Are there more pieces similar to this one?

I ordered this arrangement after listening to it online. My 4th/5th grade orchestra is preparing it for Spring Concert. The cello section appreciates having a turn at the melody. I like having 3rd violin as well as viola parts as we have no viola player this year.

As long as your students know how to play with the bow, and you have at least two cellos, a couple of violas, and a couple of violins, this piece sounds great. Your students will love it.
