  • December 08, 2012 Fantastic edition

Alfred Masterwork Editions yet again prove their superiority. This book is an amazing collections of some of my personal Bach favorites. I've had this since I was about 8 years old, and have continued to pull out music from it throughout my piano study. Though, I marked it as...

Intermediate/Advanced, this edition can satisfy a beginner as well as someone much better than myself. The fingerings are great, the music is spaced out, and the introduction gives some great tips on how to perform Bach. The only thing is that the editorial markings are in a light text. However, that's only a minor problem and has not gotten in the way of my use of it. Overall, it's an collection that I truly treasure.

  • October 02, 2007 an excellent resource

The introductory material and the comments on various pieces are very helpful for learning about how to play Bach, especially the tricky issue of ornamentation. And the analysis of the invention at the end is great.
