Item Number: AP.37765

Composer Christopher Tin's classical crossover smash hit "Baba Yetu" was first introduced to millions as the opening theme for the popular video game Civilization IV. "Baba Yetu" has since become a Grammy award-winning song from Tin's best-selling 2009 album, Calling All Dawns. The lyrics are a Swahili rendition of "The Lord's Prayer" as translated and adapted by Chris Kiagari, set to an unforgettable melody and dramatic orchestration by Tin. This 10-page piano/vocal sheet music edition captures the majesty of Tin's composition for piano performance, with lyrics, vocal melodies, and condensed choir parts also notated. (For choirs, SATB and SSATBB octavos with optional corresponding instrumental accompaniment sets and tracks are available for separate purchase.).

About Original Sheet Music Edition

Each ORIGINAL SHEET MUSIC EDITION has been arranged for piano by Alfred's talented staff of arrangers. Every effort has been made for the arrangement to be playable on the piano and to sound as close to the original recording as possible. If there are lyrics, a separate vocal line is used so that singers can easily sing along, and all lyrics as heard on the original recording are always included. Almost all arrangements are written in the original key in which they were recorded.

  • July 15, 2012 Baba Yetu -- INSPIRING!

I was introduced to this amazing piece of music by my 6 year old music student Kenan, who had memorized and could sing accurately the entire song. We figured out the chords and the band played backup for him and the chorus sang the choral bits. It was awesome! And...

here is the music, easy enough for a beginner to play. What a score (pun intended)! Well done, sheetmusicplus! Chris Tin is an extraordinary new composer and it's great to have access to his music!

Good arrangement. Translation of lyrics included. Beautiful song. A series of other movements exist for this work also.
