  • March 18, 2012 Printed errors

There are changes in the sheets made after the book was printed and you have to read where/which bar and notes are incorrectly printed, so you have to make a own notifying Its better to reprinted with the rights notes from scratch. Print it right and do it again...

  • May 20, 2008 Beautiful music!

Piazzolla is a great composer. His music has a lots of ups and downs,so you must play them and make everybody else feel the same.As a recommandation;listen the original play with Piazzolla quintet for a better understanding of the music(because these are reductions from orchestra).Enjoy...

  • May 19, 2008 Very good arrangements

These arrangements are probably overall easier then the very popular arrangements by Assad, but they are just as solid and beautiful. They are some of my favorite pieces in my repertoire. Make sure to listen to Piazzolla himself to get the correct feel. Too many people play these arrangements stiffly...

, like it's Bach, but it is not, it is Piazzolla! Play it as such!

  • July 13, 2007 The real flavor of the new tango -- for guitar.

As promised by Piazzola in the handwritten note on the first page of the score, Baltazar Benitez's arrangements do indeed capture "the real flavor of the new tango." The pieces are somewhat difficult to play; I suspect because they weren't originally written for the guitar. The only downside...

to these pieces is that Benitez some what dumbed down the score compared to how he plays it himself--with the flavor of real tango. For example, in Verano Porteño, Benitez does not transcribe the bass line in the second repetition of the main theme and does not transcribe the melodic flourishes that are so characteristic of new tango. I strongly suggest buying Benitez's recording of these pieces (The Music of Astor Piazzola) to get a sense of how these pieces should be interpreted in the new tango style. If you want to hear the music before you buy it, you can find a video of Baltazar Benitez, and others, playing Verano Porteno on You tube.

  • May 21, 2007 Very Accurate, Beautiful Pieces

As a Tango Dancer i am very pleased with The Accuracy of the pieces in comparison to the orchestral compositions. Fingerings are accurate.. all around it was an excellent purchase and i recomend it to anybody whom has interest in performing contemporary tonal pieces.
