Guitar (classical) - Intermediate
For Flute and Guitar. Composed by Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992). Saddle-stitched, Chamber Music. Edition Margaux. Latin American. Book. Published by AMA Verlag (MB.EM5312).

Item Number: MB.EM5312

ISBN 9780786663880. 9 x 12 inches.

Classical guitar and flute duet. For the intermediate guitar player who is comfortable with chords. Two full scores included. Standard notation. The arranger's notes tell us: "Libertango stands for the freedom which I allow for my musicians. Their limits are defined solely by the extent of their own capabilities and not through any exterior pressure, like Astor Piazzolla. Piazzolla wrote the Libertango for his Octeto Nuevo de Buenos Aires which he formed after returning from Paris in 1954 'determined more than ever before to treat the tango as music.' An absolute music, based on the melodic, harmonic, and above all, the rhythmical qualities of the tango, frees it from the socially defined context of its origins at the beginning of this century.".

  • November 29, 2011 Great piece of music

I am a jazz musician. I love this arrangement of an outstanding piece, so I use it as a basis for many different arrangements. I have played the guitar part on piano (I change octaves frequently) with flute, but also I have added guitar (changes only, lots of rhythm) and...

bass (wrote out a part for him.) I like to have the flutist play the last repeat an octave higher and end with piano playing a low A minor chord pianissimo. I think Astor would like the fun we have with his piece.

  • December 19, 2008 Delightful

This is such a delightful piece and not difficult. There's a lot of room for improvisation and different types of interpretation. The end of the piece in the high register of the flute is more advanced than the rest.

  • September 13, 2008 Easy Latin Piece

I enjoy playing this music. It is an easier work compared to Piazzolla's other works. The only factor that was upsetting was hat there was not a guitar part with this packaged. I looked on another website and found the book complete but without a cd. I would reccommend...

this piece for a great high schooler or college student who is looking for a little latin groove!
