This is a fantastic piece of music and deserves to be much more widely known and more frequently performed. Our North Hertfordshire Chamber Strings have performed it several times this season to much acclaim. Very highly recommended!

  • August 01, 2008 wonderful English Suite

This is an exquisite piece by C. Hubert Parry that I expect my students in the string orchestra I direct will have tons of fun playing this fall. When I used to listen to WCRB 99.5FM here in MA I always loved to hear them play it. It is...

one more of those many pieces of repetoire that I heard them play over and over again back in the old days when they played entire pieces and a lot more than just the top 40, that now I'm trying to get my youth orchestra to play. Unfortunately I guess human beings concentration just can't listen to entire pieces of repetoire any more or anything classical unless it is on a commercial or happens to be one of those top forty pieces of repetoire, so I don't listen to radio stations any more, just CD's. But there are some darn good recordings of this piece that are lots of fun to listen to even in traffic jams.
