Flying is a favorite activity of lucid dreamers, who are able to become aware that they are dreaming and then control their actions while inside the dream. Among the Clouds takes us into the minds of these dreamers as they drift off to sleep and wake up i
After a slow enchanting opening conveys the sense of drifting off to sleep, the aggressive theme of the fast section begins the amazing flight. This theme develops in several ways before coming to an invigorating conclusion. Highly accessible and exciting for medium level bands!

  • April 08, 2008 An inspiring piece for music lovers

This piece is a beyond extraordinary piece that touches your heart from beginning to end. Its slow beginning soothes the mind before rushing into a fast-paced adventure. The peaceful beginning resembles any person drifting off to sleep before dreaming up an awakening to find themselves flying Among the Couds...

. This is a VERY good piece for ANY concert band.

My middle school is playing this for competition. The clarinet part for 1st clarinet is GREAT throughout the whole song, and the percussion and brass parts are really exciting. GREAT song!!!!!!

  • August 21, 2007 Beautiful and Exciting

The band loved this song. It has uplifting themes and a great contrast between meaningful slow sections that lead into a rousing faster part, and then concludes with a crescendo into a restatement of the original slower theme. Very powerful work for advanced middle school or younger high school!

This is the favorite of all of the pieces that we are playing currently for everyone in our band! It is amazing! Every part of the whole song is exciting! The clarinet part is so beautiful at the beginning, then it becomes excitingly terrific. This song gives me a rush...

! The timpani part right before 102 is fabulous!
