  • March 06, 2009 Fun piece!

My group has only been over this once but we are already enjoying it very much. It looks like it will be tricky to put together until we know it a little better, but it will be worth it for something humerous to sing.

  • June 05, 2008 An Interesting Idea

I think this is a very good idea because many choirs have friendly rivalry between parts. However, I was a little disappointed at the lack of melody for the altos. I had expected the piece to favour the altos more than it does. It is also very repetitive but then...

that does help to learn it quickly.

  • June 13, 2007 Take time to laugh!

We need a few more "fun" pieces like that...one in every concert, as it helps to build an audience. The sopranos loved it as much as the altos, but the audience loved it the most! Piano part is easy, a little "camp" is cried out for in the delivery...

. Show your altos that you love them with this humorous piece!

  • July 26, 2003 A great choral builder for young and old

Altos' Lament will get your chorus singing with pride and having fun along the way. It sure did mine! Suitable for a range of choral skill levels from 6th/7th graders to women's glee clubs, this piece encourages ownership of the parts and instills the message that every voice...

is important to the musical effect. The Altos lament that they only get to sing crummy parts except on rare occasions when they get to sing a snippet of soaring melody. The Sopranos counter that they're tired of the melodic spotlight and long to sing the sweet harmony parts. Both Altos and Sopranos sing their woes and hopes in a partner song that comes together at all the right places to make wonderful music that's snazzy and fun to sing. Looking for a song to help your Altos shine? This is it! Good vocal range and easy/moderate difficulty for young voices, but your chorus will love rehearsing it to perfection. Lots of possibilities for playful and creative staging. A hit with the audiences too!
