Piano - Intermediate
Composed by Friedrich Kuhlau (1786-1832). Edited by Lynn Freeman Olson. Masterworks; Piano Solo; Solo. Alfred Masterwork Edition. Classical; Masterwork. Sheet. 8 pages. Published by Alfred Music (AP.16800).

Item Number: AP.16800

Very much like a "Scherzo," the "burlesque" style of this piece suggests musical humor, in light, dance-like classical patterns very typical of Kuhlau's piano works. It is written in A-minor, with melodic scale work, grace notes, and a finger-pedaled broken chord accompaniment.

My 9 year old son loved it. After his lesson, he said he had more fun playing this piece than playing video games. He played it for a performance class and everybody loved it too.

I have been playing piano for seven years and I am thirteen. I will play this piece for recital and I really like it. I would recommend it to anyone who has played piano for six or seven years.

  • June 10, 2005 A Challenging and Rewarding Piece

I am 15 and have been playing piano for 8 years now. This piece challenged me but was still simple enough to learn without getting frustrated. This is a very neat piece of music and it's very fun to play.
