My children's choir of ~20 kids performed this play in Dec. 2008 to great reviews. Everyone enjoyed the play and the message that Christmas is NOT all about the toys you want to get - which was very timely as the financial crisis hit and families re-evaluated their budgets...

. I appreciate how the main character is not a brat, but just a typical kid who is a bit self-centered and in need of a reminder. I did shorten two of the songs to make the play move along, our Bell Choir director added more bell parts and I created additional solos on the song My Gift for kids who wanted them. We kept the staging simple and the costumes were easy to procure. The kids in the choir dressed up as whatever toy they wanted to be. Overall a great experience. I will look for these composers again - Dennis & Nan Allen.
