Alexander Glazunov, one of the great masters of late Russian Romanticism, was fascinated by the saxophone and by jazz. In 1934 he wrote this beautiful saxophone concerto which has become a classic, combining romanticism with modern idioms as well. Erland von Koch's 1958 saxophone concerto is filled with experimental modern tonalities and fantastic effects for the saxophone. Both are must-haves for the serious saxophonist. Includes a printed music score on high-quality ivory paper; informative liner notes; and a compact disc featuring the concerti performed twice: first with soloist, then again with orchestral accompaniment only, minus you, the soloist. The compact disc has been voluminously indexed for your practice and performance ease. Conductor: Nayden Todorov. Soloist: Lawrence Gwozdz, alto saxophone. Ensemble: Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra.

My great sax instructor told me that is minus one book was super cool, so I tried it. I found that the great benefit to this is that you can play with the orchestra background with or without the sax playing! GreAt buy!

I disagree with the other "Not what it seems to be" comment, and recognize this version to be an excellent one. The CD recording is by an excellent saxophonist, Lawrence Gwodz, and is played at performance tempo. I would never "assume" that it comes with the piano accompaniment part (it...

clearly says "With solo part") in the description. This edition is updated with many of the correct tempos and notation that some other editions still print incorrectly. THIS is the version I recommend my students purchase each and every time.

It looks great.. comes with a CD and all that jazz, but it doesn't even include the piano accompaniment which you would assume. Also, the cd is not very helpful because it is played so slowly and its not a song meant for the soloist to follow the accompaniment...

. I was thoroughly disappointed with this purchase and now order my music through Dorn Pub.
