    Washington, DC
    Difficulty Level:
  • January 29, 2012 Chopin Album Challenging But Doable

As others wrote, some of the Chopin pieces contained within this Album are challenging and some difficult. However, they can be performed by the advanced-level pianist. I appreciate that this collection contains a good cross-section of Chopin's piano works, although a bit heavy on waltzes. The Schirmer...

edition ws not advised when I was a piano student, but I find it clear and easy to read and the dynamics and performance markings faithful to performances I have heard of these pieces.

A truly sensational selection of pieces, (some of which are very hard), which accurately reflects the genius of Chopin in 212 pages.

    Difficulty Level:
  • January 29, 2009 Still using mother's 1894 editon

Excellent selection of Chopin solos every pianist would love to play, even though some of them might be too difficult. I've used my mother's 1894 edition of this Album since youth and am now into the "golden years." In my opinion, this album holds up very well for...

contemporary use. Mother's album? Completely shot; held together with duct and scotch tape. Desperately need new copy. Thank goodness someone still publishes Shirmers'! PS: Josephy supplies excellent fingering. Besides Shirmers', Don't know where else you can get him.
