    Vernon, CT
    Difficulty Level:
    Early intermediate
  • October 24, 2011 Outstanding Edition

The Henle edition of this work is clearly one of the best available. Some editions are based on Clara Schumann's versions, which were adapted to accomodate her smaller hand. This edition contains the original versions as Robert wrote them. It is more economical to get the Scenes for Childhood...

/Album for the Young combination, however, rather than each book separately. Both volumes provide an outstanding way to introduce compositions from the Romantic era. All early intermediate students should study these works.

though these are not for the serious diehard Schumann fan (except for a few pieces), this collection is worth having just to experience another facet of the composer's life.
