A beautiful orchestral backing. The soloist provides a good example of expression. I have rated this intermediate/advanced purely because of the difficulty with tempo - lots of rubato and grand rituendos make it difficult to simply play along. One has to play intuitively. A perfect challenge for me!

This is a well arranged selection of arias with full orchestral accompaniment. The arrangements are intermediate to high intermediate and seem suited for the trumpet. The strength of the the book is the opportunity to work on artistic expression by playing what are usually vocal arrangements. The soloist does a...

nice job of interpretation. The weakness of the book (and why it only got 4 stars) is that the artist takes so many liberties with the tempo that it is almost impossible to use it for trumpet karaoke. You basically have to memorize his interpretation to be able to play along with the minus track. However, this is fairly common with decent opera transcriptions and is an important part of learning artistic playing. This is a welcome change from some of the products with synthesized accompaniments and poor production values.

Beautiful playing by the soloist, but there is such a great variation in the tempo (rubato) that it makes it difficult to play along with the recording.

  • 2009-02-06 00:00:00.0 great accompiment

I don't often get to play my trumpet with others, so the play along accomniment is really important to me. This fills the roll and make it alot of fun. I would recommend this and A Night At The Opera II to any inermediate player.

The repertoire is great, but it's difficult to play along with the cd due to poor recorded levels.
