Another outstanding composition by Robert Sheldon, A Longford Legend is destined to become a classic! It was commissioned by the Normal Community West High School Band, Normal, Illinois and is based on three poems found in a collection of Irish Street Ballades. Written in three movements, A Longford Legend is a tribute to the wonderful band literature of Grainger, Holst and Vaughan Williams. A Longford Legend is a magnificent showpiece for every instrument in the band - a must for your next concert! This title is available in SmartMusic.

this arrangement is beautifly written and requires control to play well, especially the gorgeous second movement. fairly simple rythmic wise, but still an amazing work

Good instrumentation and transitional quality. It's got all the things you want for your students to work on. Molly Bawn is quite challenge in a a perspective that it requires control of tone and it is very exposed. It's a very fun piece. I personally recommend it.

My band is currently playing this piece and I think it's a really fun song to play, especially since I'm an alto sax and have ALOT of good stuff in it. I reccomend it for any band.

  • May 03, 2006 Amazing!

This is an amazing song. My middleschool played it for our adjudication and state adjudication. It has three movements, one cheerful and bubbly, the next one sad and moving, and the last unbelievably powerful. The last movement puts a feeling of static in the room! Second movement has a beautiful...

Euphonium and Saxophone solo going on, (I played the Euphonium...whoo!) Only problems would be that the soloists throughout the piece wouldn't be able to play. Solos are for the flute, trumpet, clarinet, alto saxophone and euphonium.
