Set in a mixed jazz style of swing and "Preservation Hall," intermediate to experienced bands, both elementary and high school levels will enjoy the experience of performing this work. A Little Jazz is very adaptable for the marching band as a dance-line or majorette feature selection. Inspired by a professional jazz band leader from the 1940's and his relative, the composer wrote this jazz work in honor of the Kingsway College Philharmonic Wind Ensemble, in Oshawa, Ontario Canada. By doing so, the ensemble was provided with instruction in jazz ensemble, providing them with fulfilling the Provincial requirement in this vein. A Little Jazz is sure to be a favorite of any concert or marching band.
