A Line a Day Sight Reading, Level 1

A Line a Day Sight Reading, Level 1 by Jane Smisor Bastien. For piano. Sight Reading. Bastien Piano Basics. SMP Level 1 (Elementary). Method book. Published by Neil A. Kjos Music Company (KJ.WP258).

ISBN 849794226.

Each of these action-packed books build students' reading skills using two types of exercises: Daily Note Search emphasizes quick recognition of notes out of five-finger positions; Short Phrases in five-finger positions give your students a daily diet of reading (not rehearsing). The suggested practice routine fosters excellent self-evaluation habits. Progress reports help teachers and students track annual progress. Both of Levels 1 and 2 may be used with any beginning piano method. Level 1 provides sight reading material, both in and out of 5-finger position.

About Bastien Piano Basics

Bastien Piano Basics is an exciting and comprehensive series for piano study designed to get the young student off to the right start. The learning sequence is carefully graded to assure steady progress, while the full-color illustrations entertain and reinforce along the way.

About SMP Level 1 (Elementary)

Very little hand movement and the introduction of 3 note chords.

My daughter just turned 9 and has been playing piano for about a year. The sight reading book is an excellent tool and has helped her tremendously.
