A Franciscan Pastorale

Based upon St. Francis of Assisi's "All Creatures of Our God and King"

By Franklin Ashdown

Organ - Late Intermediate
Based upon St. Francis of Assisi's "All Creatures of Our God and King". Arranged by Franklin Ashdown. Organ Solo. H.W. Gray Saint Cecilia Series. Sheet. 12 pages.

Item Number: AP.GSTCM0103

"A Franciscan Pastorale" incorporates the beloved hymn "All Creatures of Our God and King" in a beautiful contemporary setting. The piece opens with an introductory section of nice chords and melodic movement before the hymn tune is introduced in a solo voice. Ashdown's setting is fresh, and you'll want to add this piece to your regular repertoire list. It looks more difficult than it actually is to play.

This is an awesome piece! I rate it as a intermediate/advanced becuase of the key starts in Key of Eb and then goes to Key of A, so it's hard to change gears halfway through the song when the keys are so close. Overall, it's...

a perfect piece for some lush strings and a good solo reed! The first page or so is just introducing the hymn tune, and then the theme of "All Creatures" comes in very delicatly on page two. Pedals aren't bad, and niether are the's just the key signature that makes things a little tricky. It's a slow song, so planning for about 5 to 6 minutes would be needed. Hope this helps! Keep on pedalin'.
