I am a HS band director, and I choose this to be my concert piece. This song has great rhythm, beat, and tempo changes. It is, however, very difficult to learn. Almost every part presents its challenge, and the clarinet section had an extremely difficult time--seeing as they had...

8 pages of 16th notes and changing time signatures to learn and perfect. The percussionists had a fantastic time learning it, and the xylophone part was very unique and interesting. A message from my flute players is this "This song was a lot of fun once we learned it. Beforehand, it was HORRIBLE! It was so hard to learn!!!!" Take into note, however, that the flute players did not practice as much as other sections. I think that if your band is extremely hard working and your director is an overachiever, you should definitly get this piece--its one anyone would love. But, if you aren't advanced and aren't the most military style band in the world, save this piece for other bands to play.
