Journey back to the 1940s for a moving story of love and sacrifice. Lt. Edwin Berry is stationed overseas during World War II and has been chosen to celebrate Christmas with his wife and children for a special Christmas homecoming. He is later called upon by his commander for a special (and dangerous) mission to save lives, which only he can fulfill, making his homecoming impossible...possibly forever. Filled with upbeat, big band arrangements of carols and new songs, this musical brings the period fully to life. 40 minutes. Medium to medium easy.

A serious story line with an edge of joy and fun. The USO scene is the best. Our stage with mini-round tables & Coco-Cola chest created the perfect setting for the crowded dance floor and the band brought to life the 40's era. Using a few "seniors" for...

the dance scene was so much fun for them and the audience too! Pull together a good support team because it is a lot of work but well worth the extra effort. START EARLY! Emotions from tears to laughter.

We have produced this musical in 2 different churches: in a small town, & in a larger city church. Both times it was well received, and participants were excited by the music and message. The 40s style music was a big hit Choirs loved working on the costuming and staging/choreography...

we used. Anecdotally, a WW II vet with Alzheimer's attended, and smiled for the 1st time in over a year. His family was very grateful, as were countless others who were lifted to the Lord because of this play. It isn't just a cantata, and I imagine could be done simply or with complexity. We even used the HS jazz band to play "pre-show" in the smaller town, both times added 1040s special music to the beginning and in the city one night closed with a professional a cappella group. I recommend this to any church that wants a different way to have a great time sharing the Gospel at Christmas time. It's worth your time to at least have a look.
