Written in 1994 and inspired by the music of Bob Mintzer, this unique two-in-one edition for saxophone quintet or quartet features tenor saxophone soloist. In the original quintet scoring, the two tenors have distinctly separate parts -- Tenor 1 plays solos, Tenor 2 plays ensemble passages. In the quartet conversion, the tenor sax part is a workable combination of solo and ensemble lines. Additionally, groups have the option of using soprano saxophone in place of lead alto. The whole piece is based on clear rhythmic and melodic motives, which develop and flow from one part into the other to create a funky groove. Duration 4:30.
