Solid Instructional
This video seems like it was mainly produced for players who have already obtained a decent level of mastery with alternate, alternative, and legato picking. If you do not have this basic level of playing ability this video has little to offer other than eye candy. For the player that this video was meant for, it works well and delivers as advertised: Yngwie's frequently used patterns and licks. In response to criticisms of this video I'd just like to point out that if you have a hard time learning from it, it probably means you picked too difficult of a material to study in the first place.

awsome!!
I Love yngwie's picking technique, and this video shows you how to play that technique, just watch the close up of his right hand sweep the strings!! I have gained so much more control in my right hand!! the volume, delay trick yngwie demonstrates is also very cool!! this video is the best!!

crap
yngwie is fast but the video doesn't teach you anything, yngwie just sits there and thinks of licks to play. Some of the concert footage is pretty cool but there is no "teaching".

The ULTIMATE breakdown of his style
I've always wondered how he achived that sort of shred sound that made the notes sound like they were floating, that's how I describe it. Genius use of arpeggios. The only things in the video I could not do were the "inside the string picking techniques", and if you're having trouble with that, lemme help u. I went to Yngwie's offical .com and he has an ask yngwie section. someone asked about his picking technique, and he replied, "it's like rubbing your tummy and patting you're head at the same time, comes natural or it does'nt." so I have to rearange the fingerings so I play the same notes, but instead it's tapping with really wide intervals. but it's all good. you'll be able to play anything he's recorded in those days after just the "favorite licks section".

Makin' it look easy 101
Although his music might sound like he's got 15 fingers, this video will show you how he pulls it off, AND, makes it look like a breeze in the process. It's all about the economy of movement and developing your dexterity. Although YJM's musical style might not be to everyone's taste, his technique can be applied to any style with remarkable results. Keep in mind however, that this is how HE plays, and everything he does (for example he never uses his pinky and ring fingers sequentially in a run, especially a descending one) might not work out the best for you, so be prepared to adapt. Also, Yngwie's idea of slow is not quite the same as yours or mine, so keep the remote handy. Watch how he uses the pickup control for emphasis and his masterful manipulation of the volume control. Try to play along with the incendiary demos and eventually you'll get up to speed and take your playing Far Beyond The Sun, stars and into Andromeda!
