What Is This Place? by Thomas Keesecker. For SATB choir, cello, with optional handbells and piano. Augsburg Choral Hymn Series. Anthem. Choral octavo. 12 pages. Published by Augsburg Fortress (AU.9780800678845).

The composer describes this piece as "Purcell's Bell Anthem meets Phillip Glass, J.S. Bach and Carl Orff for lunch." This music is fresh and unique, inspiring and accessible. Appropriate for the dedication of a church building, it is also relevant for most services where a reminder of who we are and why we are here is important.

simple tune

Nice joint choir and bells anthem. Simple, with good text. Not particularly exciting, though.

Extremely Talented Composer

I also have sung many of Mr. Keeseckers anthems. His feelings of faith are easily seen in his music.

Who is this composer????

Mr. Keesecker is a very accomplished writer & teacher. My choir has performed many of his pieces. They are very inspiring for all that participate. Listen to some of his other pieces.
