techniques for improving players
Many of the techniques in this book are intended for special performances, such as "growling" and "multiphonic" but the tonguing techniques are very helpful. I think this book is a must-read for anyone interested in playing music at more than a beginner level. And be sure to search for videos featuring the author... he is quite amazing to hear!

Trombonisms
Trombonisms is a wealth of information for all brass players, not just Trombones. The techniques discussed really do work and explanation is articulate. The book is best known for the doodle tongue approach but information on slide technique and range extension is invaluable. Best book by far for trombone technique.
