Triadic Memories by Morton Feldman Chamber Music - Sheet Music

By Morton Feldman

Chris Villars, chronicler of all things Feldman, offers a selection of published reviews of the world premiere performance of Triadic Memories, as performed by dedicatee Roger Woodward in 1981. These explain in large part how a 26-page piano piece takes an hour and a half, while never rising above pianissimo! This important contemporary work is now available for study or performance. For advanced students and performers. Duration: 1 hr. 30 min.

Don't be fooled by the title...

This music is all about the rhythm, and has very little if anything to do with any triad you might recognize. The small discrepancies between 16th notes in triplets and duplets is the main material here. It is not sight-readable until one discovers the way to make this distinction clear and precise. Then it's playable. Three staves through.
