Toccata-From Symphony No. 5
Very useful organ toccata to have when needing a joyful, uplifting number. The music notes of my copy are larger, which makes it easier to read.

Great piece
This piece is well-suited for a pipe organ, and does not require advanced pedaling technique, only advanced keyboard skills. Fun to play!

Long express train ride...
Although this is a most popular organ showpiece, as music it is incredibly dull. The rather gimmicky main theme, a rhythmic motto, is repeated with little relief for the entire work. Any piece of this length really benefits from a contrasting second theme, I feel.

A wonderful piece which fits many occasions.
From Widor's Symphony No. 5 comes this beautiful Toccata. Though most always performed outside of the context of this fantastic symphony, this Toccata is remarkable in it's sound and mood. Useful for Weddings and General Use, this Toccata makes a wonderful addition to the library of organists. If you enjoy this Toccata, also recommended is the entire 5th Organ Symphony performed by Charles Marie Widor.

Great arrangement
As said many times above, this piece is indeed a photocopy, however, it is a very large print, high quality copy. I believe that the piece was copied to enlarge it, because I have another version, in tiny print, that was very hard to read. The only reason you can really tell that its a copy, is 1) the user reviews, and 2) the pipe organ registration is slightly cut off. Very good arrangement, being 16, it took some time to learn, but it certainly paid off. The largeness of the score was very helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Simple to Learn, Difficult to Perform
Granted, learning this great organ piece is not that difficult. It is much like fingering exercises. Common theme throughout, but in different keys and colors. I rate this "Advanced" in terms of difficulty because to unless one takes interpretive leeway in terms of dynamics, expression, and registration, it becomes nothing more than a boring, monotonous repetition finger-stretching. Only by many, many tedious hours of slow-speed practicing can one obtain the extreme fluid legato required to bring out the best in the works. Once that is accomplished, the piece is well worth the effort.

Good value
As mentioned by the previous review, it is an obvious photocopy, but is a quality copy and is very reasonably priced. Shipping and arrival were exactly as the site stated. I am very satisfied and highly recommend this purchase. I must also agree: who would play this, of all the Romantic Toccatas on a Hammond organ? You would need a concert model (I haven't seen many) to properly play it. Even so, it would sound little more than a fingering exercise!! Hope this helps!!!!

Classy photocopy
Although an obvious reprint of a fifties edition this Schirmer title is reasonably easy to read with little editorial tampering. I was slightly irritated by the Hammond registration which I thought superfluous (who would play this of all pieces on a Hammond?) but otherwise it was a reasonably priced good quality buy. (ok so it looks a bit like a photocopy but the paper is good quality and shouldn't disintigrate with frequent practice). Order came through in time they said it would.
