Long express train ride...
Although this is a most popular organ showpiece, as music it is incredibly dull. The rather gimmicky main theme, a rhythmic motto, is repeated with little relief for the entire work. Any piece of this length really benefits from a contrasting second theme, I feel.

A wonderful piece which fits many occasions.
From Widor's Symphony No. 5 comes this beautiful Toccata. Though most always performed outside of the context of this fantastic symphony, this Toccata is remarkable in it's sound and mood.
