No more Lion/Aïda- he 's back
Elton John made an album. That's no news, but this time he went back to simple. A piano, his voice and that is it. A good start, but unfortunately the producers could't keep their hands to themselves. Background strings and vocals are all over the place and one cannot keeps thinking how the tunes might have sounded without those frills. However, "this train don't stop there anymore" is bound to be one of his classics. With Taupin at his bitterst, Elton delivers with perfect intonation, a somewhat cynical, self-reflecting song about his life and career, comparing himself to a train...it works.
