As the title implies, this “rag” finds its way into some curious melodic entanglements, as well as unexpected rhythmic twists and turns as only maestro Bernstein can conjure up. Tuneful Toe-Tapping Tongue Twister!
Before I received the score, I listened to the sound sample and imagined there to be multiple time changes (as that is how it sounds), but was surprised to find it all in 4/4! This is testimony to Bernstein's clever writing and is a great arrangement, if perhaps a little...
