Stravinskij

Got this at a ridiculously low price from sheet mussic plus. A great score, easy to read and amazingly rich in discoveries when listening along. Totally eye-opening!

Greatest Piece Ever Written

The milestone piece of Igor Stravinsky is arguably the greatest piece of the 20th Century with it's intricate design, melodies, harmonies, and meter changes, and it's difficulty to play! This masterpiece stands out from 20th Century works because though parts of the piece may appear or random it is quite the contrary! I am a senior composition major and studying this piece was one of the best decisions of my career! Discovering the intricacies of Stravinsky's harmonies and melodic structures as well as his overall structure of his pieces has been extremely educational and beneficial to me as a composer and music lover! It just opened doors for the whole movement of music! The cover art is great and the size of the score is great as well! Very clear and easy to read.

Good Score, Cheaper than Hawkes edition

While the Hawkes edition is sturdier (and may be more up to date, although i have yet to find any differences) this is cheaper and does the job. Unlike was stated in the last review, it is a transposed score, the only confusion being in the horn (and wagner tuba) parts, which for some reason are transposed without the key signatures in some movements, but not so in others, making comparison with a C score (piano formats are available as well) helpful for analysis. Also, "Kiss Of The Earth" and some other parts if i remember right, are written without the use of key signatures even though the parts are transposed. Treating this as a non-transposed score, however, will make your analysis quite suspect so don't pay any attention to the last review. The only problem i've found so far is that it would easier to follow the score if a C sketch was given at the top. Of course, if it was easy, it wouldn't be Stravinsky. Z.

Great 20th Century Work

A great score with a very cool cover. The parts are all in the same key which makes it easier for analysis.
