Don't go here.

Prof.Longhair may be entertaining in person but this so-called transcription in no way typifies LH's piano playing. Not representative.

Rum and Coca Cola, Blues and Rumba.

The music is simple enough to read, and the harmonies are not complex, but I find, as an anglo-saxon, that the rhythms are a little difficult. I have bought the recordings to get through this. Mardi Gras in New Orleans anyone?

Fonk

This is great New Orelans piano like Fess plays it on his records - for me very fine transcriptions with a lot of variations. Actually, it is not that difficult to play ... but: to get the rhythm is pretty tough. I'll have to work my way slowly through the collection.

Excellent Louisana styled piano sheetmusic

I wasn't familiar with this style of piano playing. Everyone is familiar with Ray Charles, Dr. John, and others that play this style of music. But who many know it was Professor Longhair that created that style.

Little Loving Henry's music

Listening to Professor Longhair's recordings, the transcriptions included are excellent. Fess does change some of his work up abit from recording to recording I would highly recommend this book to every piano player who loves Fess' music. To Hal Leonard Publishers, PLEASE follow up with another book. Thank you.

Professor Longhair Collection

A great book. The notations are pretty accurate. There is a wide choice of tunes here, it gives the player a good grounding in all of the Rhumba/Boogie and New Orleans fonk styles. Pure Fess.

'Fess Tears it up

A stunning collection of some of 'Fess best songs, although, not necessarily the ones I would have chosen for such a compilation book as this. Well laid out - clear notation - if somewhat a little simple in some places. Impressive transcription of "Tipitina" - esp. the Rubato solo intro. There is slight room for improvement (by making the book bigger!!) but all in all an impressive, very fun collection, from a "Nawleens" Legend. Worth buying.... definitely.
