I have just started using this series with students in other courses. Wow, what beautiful music compared to most piano courses! This is a traditional middle C approach, but with rich, rewarding music that is not a recycle of stuff you've heard for the last 50 years. The pieces are contemporary in style, but not avant-garde. They invite the student to perform with precise articulation and artistic use of dynamics. Having done so, the student has a beautiful piece to show for the effort. This book and book 1 are very similar. I liked the pieces in book 1A better than the ones in book 1. Skills are intoduced slightly earlier in 1A as well.I will be making greater use of this course in the future.
